Gamification Takes Brussels
A service called TagTagCity has recently made tourism in Brussels more interactive. The service is available for download on a smartphone, or if you don’t have one, you can get a device called a Clickey, and includes places, sites, and objects around the city. You can follow walks set out by the service and click on the tags to learn the history of the city while also accumulating points.
Each time you click in, you accumulate coins to go towards savings at places ranging from participating shops, hotels, museums, and tourist sites. To me, the service seems like a great way to learn about the city with an extra little incentive to visit specific locations. TagTagCity feels a lot like an electronic cheat sheet for tourists, offering secrets to the city that a tourist might not notice. The upside is you aren’t lugging around a heavy book. A final advantage of the service is that you can share your experience with friends at TagTagCity.com.
