Verizon Wireless uses Gamification to get more Logins
When I think of Verizon Wireless, like many other people I would suspect, my mind conjures up images of the guy in various locations asking, “Can hear me now?” In an effort to give consumers something else to think about with respect to the company, Verizon has employed gamification vendor Gigya to create the Verizon Insider platform, an online community that rewards users for participation. So for all those Verizon Wireless users out there, get ready to be gamified.
The site offers things like social media integration and badges for engaging in certain activities. And while Verizon is not the first company to use gamification to encourage user participation, the results certainly seem to be what they were hoping for: users who login to the Verizon Insider platform are spending 30% more time engaged than with the prior method and 50 percent of the site’s users are participating in the gamified tasks.
By offering users badges and points, Verizon is able to encourage users are to comment and also get referrals. Beth Tourek, social media strategist at Verizon Wireless, says, “By allowing users to interact using their social identities, we’re not just engaging with them more effectively but also understanding them like never before.”
